2020 10,000 Lakes Wake Surf Open

My name is Trevor Grindland, the co-organizer of the 2020 10,000 Lakes Wakesurf Open. As you may be aware, we have been waiting to call the event on until a permit was issued from the city of Minneapolis. We are pleased to announce that we have received the required permit; however, there are extensive limitations and guidelines that must be followed in order for the event to occur. Note: If you have registered for the event and are on the waitlist, action is required after reading this email in its entirety The safety of our event staff and participants is our top priority. We have been working closely with the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board in accordance with the governor’s “Stay Safe Minnesota” guidelines. Please carefully ready the following information. • Event participants must adhere to the following rules:  No gatherings of participants or spectators will be allowed at the event site  Participants will be given a specific ride time per the event riding order  Participants will show up no earlier than 20 minutes before his/her designated ride time  Participants will have his/her temperature taken prior to being staged. If a participant has a temperature reading greater than 100.4°F they will not be able to remain on the event site.  No more than three participants will be staged at any given time throughout the event. If you are not being staged, you are not permitted at the event site. The only exception to this rule is participants under the age of 18. Riders under the age of 18 will be allowed to have one guardian accompany him/her at the event site. Participants will be staged in the following manor: • 1 participant will be riding behind the boat • 1 participant will be “on deck” ready to ride at the end of the starting dock • 1 participant will be “in the hole” ready to ride on shore • Participants must leave the event site immediately following his/her ride. • On site event staff will be limited to the following:  1 Boat Driver (In Boat)  3 Boat Judges (In Boat)  1 Photographer/Cinematographer (In Boat/On Land)  1 Participant Coordinator (On Land)  1 Event Coordinator (On Land)  Event staff will be required to wear a face covering  Event staff that are in the boat will be spaced 6 feet apart • The following items will not be permitted at the event site:  No onsite sponsors or vendors  No onsite food or beverage vendors  No onsite PA/speaker system and Jumbotron • No onsite award ceremony  Results will be posted online when they become available per CWSA guidelines All participants and spectators must observe the rules stated above. The city has made it clear they will shut down the contest if groups begin to congregate at the event site. Participants who do not follow the rules may be subject do disqualification. We appreciate everyone doing their part minimize the spread of COVID-19 in our community!
