2022 CWSA North American Wake Surfing Championship - Modules This Gold Level event is considered a “World Series of Wake Surfing” event for the purposes of World Wake Surfing Championship qualification criteria and qualifies for WRS points and ranking. This event is limited to CWSA member athletes who are also nationals of North & South American countries, and participation in this event is required to qualify to be invited to the World Wake Surfing Championship. This event will use the innovative CWSA module video format, which combines live competition run experience with the ability to compete and be judged against athletes in many locations all over the globe in the same event. This event is open to all CWSA member athletes. Qualified module locations will be published prior to registration opening for the event. There is no limit on the number of modules in this event, and no minimum or maximum number of competitors per module. There are no geographic or nationality limitations for this event, or the event modules. Module site will video the competition runs of the athletes between August 18 and August 22, 2022. Each competitor will have the opportunity to provide a single competition run for each phase of the event format for their division. For example, if the division format is Heat, LCQ, and Final, the competitor will perform and submit three (3) separate competition runs. Each competition run consist of two (2) 45 second passes at a base speed of 11.2 mph. There shall be at a minimum a start buoy and an end buoy. Falls: One (1) pick up after a fall, per pass. Each module shall have a CWSA approved Module Head Judge to assure compliance with CWSA Competition Guidelines and modifications as required for the Event format, including video specifications. All module video will be uploaded and judged by trained and qualified CWSA judges. The event running order will be published on August 25, 2022. Video runs and results shall be published on the CWSA YouTube channel on September 5, 2022. NOTE Part 4.2 d., below, will apply to this event. 4.2 COMPETITOR EQUIPMENT & ATTIRE d. During any competition run in any event (live, modular or online), athletes are required to wear a swimsuit bottom of decent appearance and which completely covers the athlete’s buttocks. i. This rule shall not apply if the athlete is wearing a wetsuit completely covering the athlete’s buttocks. ii. If a non-compliant swimsuit bottom is noticed by a Judge team, Head Judge or other event official prior to an athlete’s competition run, the athlete may be given an opportunity to cure non-compliant swimwear bottom before the competition run if compliance can be accomplished by the athlete without unreasonably delaying the event. iii. The failure of an athlete to comply with this rule shall result in disqualification for the competition run by the Judge team, or the event Head Judge. All provisions of the CWSA Competition Guidelines 2022 v4.0 shall apply, with the following modifications for this event only: o Module Head Judges shall exercise the authority of Judging Teams pursuant to Part 5.3, Part 9.1.3 a. ii., iii, v. and vii, and viii for 'on course' judging team decisions, and Part 14.2.a. o Module Head Judges shall have the authority provided to the Head Judge to enforce compliance with Part 2, Part 4, Part 12. o Part 5.4 transfers shall NOT be permitted. o Part 9.1.2 shall not apply. o Part 9.1.3 a. ii., iii, and vii shall not apply for Judging teams. o Part 9.2.a. shall not apply. o Part 11 shall not apply. o Part 14.6 Table 14.6(B) Ship to shore feed requirement shall not apply
