2024 CWSA WRS Series Event #1 - Drop & 45

2024 WRS Series Event #1 - Drop & 45 is the first of four Drop & 45 events for the 2024 competitive season. This is a Bronze level CWSA WRS Qualified Event and is a qualifying event for the 2024 CWSA World Championship. This Bronze level event qualifies for WRS points and ranking. Once you have registered for this event, you can find the link to upload your video in the 'My Event Registrations' tab in your athlete profile. Registration opens at 00:01 (12:01 am) EDT the first day of the event. The competition run for this event will consist of a single 45 second pass. Please carefully review the rules for this event below and look at the video submission format examples to make sure your video submission is not disqualified. Please watch the Riders Meeting on this event page before submitting your video. 1. Video submission deadline November 27, 2023 at 23:00 EDT. Late submissions will not be permitted. If you register for the event and fail to submit a video and placard by the deadline, you will not be entitled to a refund. o Video submission cannot have previously been posted on any social media platform o Current – Video must be taken between November 2, 2023 at 00:01 EDT and November 27, 2023 at 23:00 EST o Video format – 1080p, shot in landscape orientation. Raw video, no edits except to append a video or still placard at the beginning of the video or before the rope drop, video speed must be 1:1. No logos or advertising. DO NOT use a third-party app to append you placard to your video, as it may insert logos or advertising, and may alter the video format. o If your run video submission is not in landscape orientation, you may be disqualified. o A video or still photo including a placard with athlete’s name, division, and date of video creation must appear at the beginning of the video. o The placard must be legible, written in English, and use the following date format: MM/DD/YYYY. o The placard may be handwritten or digital. o The video or still photo must also show the athlete’s full board including fin(s), and the athlete’s face must be visible. o It is also acceptable to submit the placard still photo or short placard video as a separate file. o See video submission format examples on the event page. o PFD required, and must be visible to the judging team. o No drop ins, tow ins or deck starts or deck exits. o Video must show rope drop behind the competition boat. o Athlete’s face must be visible in the video. o Care should be taken when filming your video that you do not film into the sun, this may result in your face not being visible in your video. Filming into the sun also makes for a very poor-quality video. o If a mask is required to be worn during wakesurfing in your national, regional, or local jurisdiction due to COVID-19 that will NOT result in a disqualification. * See Riders Meeting document on this event page to avoid being disqualified * * Submit competition run videos in LANDSCAPE orientation only!* * If you do not understand what ‘landscape’ means, send us an email* 2. Multiple videos may be submitted, however, only the last submitted video will be judged. 3. Running order will be posted December 1, 2023. 4. Results will be announced by December 18, 2023. 5. All videos will be posted on the CWSA YouTube channel by January 15, 2024. 6. WRS points awarded for all CWSA members based on a Bronze level event. 7. Pro cash purse: 10% of the total event registration proceeds. 8. For non-Pro skill levels, podium and other prizes to be determined and dependent on the total number of entries. 9. Entries will be limited and will be first come first serve. o Juniors (Male Combined) – 12. o Juniors (Female Combined) – 12. o Amateurs (Male Skim, Male Surf, Female Skim, Female Surf) – 24 per division. o Masters (Male Skim, Male Surf, Female Skim, Female Surf) – 12 per division. o Outlaws (Male Skim, Male Surf, Female Skim, Female Surf) – 18 per division. o Pros (Male Skim, Male Surf, Female Skim, Female Surf) – 12 per division. 10. Dual entry permitted. 11. Run will be judged starting with the first maneuver after dropping the rope and will end after 45 seconds, or upon gaining control of last maneuver started within the 45 second time frame and within a reasonable amount of time (5 seconds). 12. Transfers are permitted. 13. No profanity, profane or sexual gestures, no nudity, and no alcoholic beverages are permitted in the video. 14. Equipment (board) must comply with CWSA Competition Guidelines for the division for which the video is submitted. 15. All provisions of the CWSA Competition Guidelines 2023 v5.1 shall apply, including Part 4.2.d., with the following modifications for this event only: o Part 5.1 – Course Layout, Part 5.3 Falls: Single 45 second pass, without a buoy, a fall ends the run if it occurs prior to the 45 second mark. o Part 5.4 transfers shall be permitted. o Part 9.1.2 shall not apply. o Part 9.1.3 a. ii., iii, and vii shall not apply. o Part 9.2.a. shall not apply. o Part 9.3.a. shall not apply. o Part 10.7 Run shall begin starting with the first maneuver after dropping the rope and will end after 45 seconds, or upon gaining control of last maneuver started within the 45 second time frame and within a reasonable amount of time (5 seconds). o Part 11 shall not apply. o Part 14.6 Table 14.6(B) Ship to shore feed requirement shall not apply. 16. Use of electronic communication devices is prohibited and will result in disqualification. 17. Coaching of athletes while on course is prohibited and result in disqualification. 18. You acknowledge: By submitting your video media and entering this contest, you warrant and agree that you are the owner of the video, that you have authority to submit the video material, that you are the individual depicted in the video, and that you irrevocably grant to the Competitive Wake Surf Association, Inc. (CWSA) the non-exclusive right to use the video media, in whole or in part, and the right to use your name and likeness for commercial purposes of promoting the CWSA and/or this CWSA sanctioned online contest, by broadcast, news reporting, and other promotion using internet based social media and other internet and broadcast media outlets. This right to use the video media shall NOT terminate and the CWSA may continue to use the video media submitted, including your likeness and name, in perpetuity. If you are less than 18 years of age, you affirm that your parent or guardian consents and agrees to submission of the video media and all terms and conditions of this paragraph.
